1840 Sunderland (England) teacup & saucer. This beautiful 181yr old cup & saucer are beautiful testaments to the artistry and craftsmanship of china producers and potters of yore. Both pieces are a beautiful white bone china hand painted with a leaf motif in a very rare shades of lusterware purple and vibrant green. Both pieces are unmarked, but have been professionally authenticated.
Proof of authenticity available to view upon request. Most Sunderland pieces from this time were unmarked.
Both pieces are in excellent condition with minimal signs of age and/or usage. There are no cracks, chips, scratches, or crazing.
There is minor fading of the hand painted decoration, but that is to be expected in pieces this old (see photos). A small speck of black grit is on the bottom of the cup underneath the glaze. The cup measures approximately 3.8 diameter. The saucer measures approximately 5.5 in diameter. Guaranteed to be packed carefully and securely.
