This STRIKING & BEAUTIFUL SET of Five Tea Cups and Six Saucers is extremely rare. There are few patterns that are so minimalistic and easy and absolutely elegant. The colors are a lovely tone of Salmon and just the right amount of Gold catches the eye, but does not overwhelm.
It is absolutely classic like so many Imari patterns, but far more fluid and less complicated. In 1904, this service easily caught my Grandmother's eye.Her courture firm, Farqhuarson and Wheelock, just off 5th Avenue in Manhattan had garnered an important position amongst America's wealthiest famililies. Among her shopping pleasures was a prediliction for dessert and coffee and tea services. This set was one of her favorites. Included here, there are a total of five tea cups and six saucers.
Two saucers have minor chips. Noticeable on the underside and fortunately not on the top.
One of these saucers have a tiny amount of crazing. There is one cup with a tiny chip. Please see my pictures and do feel free to text me with any questions. These are very minor flaws. Of the rest of the pieces, they are in excellent condition.
No color fade, no stains and the original gilt looks new. The dimensions are as follows: Cups 3 1/4" (8 cm) diameter Cups 2" (5 cm) high Saucers 5 (13 cm) diameter.
