Antique Royal Worcester Tea Cup & Saucer, Aesthetic Style
This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in England by Royal Worcester in 1894. The date code indicates this year. The saucer has a diameter of 4 1/2 and the cup is 2 tall, with a diameter of 2 1/2. The porcelain is molded in a naturalistic shape of a lily pad and flower.
Veins run through the porcelain and the shape of each piece imitates the natural form. The ground color is called blush, comprised of shades of light peach blending to.
There is decoration of autumn toned ferns accenting each piece. The interior of the cup, handle and rims of each piece are coated with gold. This slightly smaller sized cup and saucer was used particularly for 4 oclock tea.
