Antique R. Briggs Co. Boston Teacup & Saucer Set

Boston Teacup and Saucer Set. Gorgeous and exceedingly rare set of R. Boston bone china teacups with their accompanying saucers.

These pieces are intricately detailed with floral grape and vine patterns, and exquisite accenting around the rims, bases, and handles. Every piece was hand made by the Briggs Co. And as a result, each has its own distinct variations.

These pieces are in wonderful condition, especially when considering their age. Minor areas of original overpaint and colouration are, to those with a keen eye, visible on several pieces.

This set is thought to have been made before the turn of the 20th century. Was officially formed in 1798, with the name changing from Sumners & Co. After Richard Briggs inherited the company in 1861.

Was known to be located on the corner of School St & 137 Washington Street (then 32 Newbury Street), Boston, Massachusetts. An archival copy of one of the R. Brochures has been included in the description.

This listing does not include a physical copy of the brochure, as this is only being shown for historical context. Finding a full set of four matching cup & saucer combinations is rare. Due to the extreme rarity and relative value of these pieces, excessive padding and individual wrapping will be used on each piece.
