Antique Mintons Tea Cup & Saucer, Flying Cranes
This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in England by Mintons in 1881. The date cipher indicates this year. The saucer is 4 3/4 inches in diameter and 1 inch deep. The cup is 2 inches tall with a diameter of 3 1/2 inches.
The set is decorated with an Asian inspired design of cranes, fences and bamboo. Some of them are flying in the air, others are hunting for fish. There is even a crane inside the bottom of the cup.
The design is a transfer that is hand colored with bright enamels. We believe that this design was created by the famous artist Christopher Dresser. There are 2 sets available.
