CONDITION: Light wear to gilding in well of saucer. This tea cup and saucer was produced in France at Faubourg, St. Antoine, Barriere de Reuilly in the late 18th century.
The factory was founded by Henry Florntine Chanou who trained at Sevres. The factory was founded in 1784. An example of Faubourg's work is displayed in the Sevres Museum showing the "CH" marking. The saucer has a diameter of 5 inches and is 1 1/2 inches deep.
The cup is 2 3/8 inches tall with a diameter of 2 1/2 inches. The porcelain is hand painted in Sevres style with roses, ribbons and bows. Vivid colors are used and there is delicate hand gilding.
This is a rare example of Faubourg as this factory had a short history. Production rights granted by Meissen to Vincennes. Therefore, there are few examples of this porcelain in existence.
