Antique Derby Imari Porcelain Octagonal Tea Cup Saucer Coffee Can Red Mark 1810
Breathtaking and unusual, this antique Derby tea cup and saucer was painted with an Imari style pattern that I have not seen before. The red and green design is a riot of flowers, vines and blooms, with each panel outlined in gold paint and crowned with purple blossoms against a black background. The interior of the cup has a ring of concentric arches around the rim, and both cup and saucer are centered with a golden flower.
The cup has straight sides, so is probably more accurately described as a coffee can, and both cup and saucer are octagonal. CONDITION: VERY GOOD (Poor-->Fair-->Good-->Very Good-->Excellent-->Mint): No chips or cracks on either piece. Paint loss on center of saucer, mostly covered when cup is in place. Black flecks on interior of cup - kind of hard to tell, but these may be under the glaze.
This set likely dates to the early 1800s. DECADE: circa 1810 MEASUREMENTS: Saucer is just under 6 in diameter. Cup is 3.75" across the top, 4.75" wide including handle and 2.75 high WEIGHT (w/o packaging): 13 oz CONDITION CHART: Mint - As new. No visible flaws or wear. Excellent - Has been used and/or may have very minor noticeable flaws that do not detract from the use or aesthetics of the item.Very Good - Light wear and/or noticeable flaws that may warrant optional repairs, but can still be used as intended. May be missing parts/pieces, but doesn't impact use. Good - Visible wear with flaws that may warrant repairs before being used as intended.
