This porcelain cup and saucer was produced in France by Coiffe Limoges in the 1890s. The saucer has a diameter of 4 3/4 inches and the cup is 2 1/4 inches high. The opening on this cup is 2 5/8 or 6.67cm. We believe that this is a 4 oclock tea size cup and saucer.
It has a lovely hand painted Watteau scene with lovers in 18th C costumes. The ornate cartouche that frames the scene is done with raised silver and gold. This decoration is also used in the saucer.
The rims and handle are trimmed with gold. This cup and saucer is unique in the artistry and detail employed in its creation. It follows in the fine French Sevres and Old Paris tradition.
