Antique Chinese Rose Medallion Hand Painted Teacup & Saucer, Set 2. Up for sale is the Chinese rose medallion teacup and saucer as Set 2 porcelain with hand painted and gold gilt scenes, dated mid-19. The footed teacup with a unique handle and saucer feature a wider rim and a tapered-down body richly decorated in symmetry around the edges of the interior with bamboos on a rock, birds perching on branches, a butterfly and a bee on flowers. The exterior of the teacup is also richly painted at five sides with different themes including figures, flowers and a medallion with a bird sitting on a branch next to a rock. Similarly, the internal region of the saucer is richly painted with eight various themes including figures and flowers, surrounding the central medallion with a bird and a bug. Notably, both the teacup and saucer are designed to have a turning edge outside of their lower bodies. The Set 1 and Set 2 are basically with similar paintings, but there are varieties in the figures for the saucers and in the exterior themes for the teacups. Measures: Teacup, 4 ½" wide (across widest parts to the handle) x 3 ¾" rim diameter x 2 5/8" high x 2" base diameter; Saucer, 6" rim diameter x 1 ½" high x 3 ¼ base diameter. Condition: Very good, with no chips or cracks, with mild gilt and paint loss, consistent with age and use.
