Aynsley The Nelros Cup of Fortune Rare Tea Cup and Saucer, England c. 1904-10
Aynsley Nelros Cup of Fortune Teacup and Saucer, High D Shape Handle. A rare, hard to find wonderful Nelros Cup of Fortune teacup and saucer made by Aynsley China of England. Features a white background with fortune telling symbols in black and red on the cup interior. The saucer features symbols of the Zodiac in black with red and black fine lines dividing each panel. The cup exterior reads "Would'st I Learn Thy Future With Thy Tea and This Magic Cup Will Show I Thee". Both the tea cup and saucer have scalloped edges and the tea cup has high D shaped handle. Aynsley began producing this pattern in 1904 with the High D shaped handled cup like the one in this listing. The high D handle proved difficult for those who liked to turn their cup over flat on to the saucer instead of swirling the leaves.
As a result Aynsley eventually switched production to a very simple low "C" type handle. The back stamp is Aynsley and includes the RD # 442928 which dates it around 1904-10. This rare and wonderful tea cup and saucer would make an elegant addition to any collection. Makes a memorable gift or wonderful personal indulgence.
