Aynsley England The Nelrose Cup of Fortune Tea Cup & Saucer HTF Rare #442928. This rare cup and saucer is used for reading tea leaves / fortune telling. Both the cup and saucer have symbols used by the fortune teller to read the tea leaves.

Around the outside rim of the teacup is the saying Would'st Learn Thy Future With Thy Tea This Magic Cup Will Show it Thee. I was told that as the center of the cup has a red anchor and the center of the saucer a Retrograde symbol within a star designates these as an original as well as the register number and Aynsley hallmark on the bottom of each piece. Both pieces have lovely scalloped edges. The plate measures approximately 5.5 diameter. The teacup measures approx 4 diameter at rim and is 2 tall.

I do not know the exact date of manufacture but have been advised that it was in the early 1900s. In very good pre-owned condition for its age. There are a few small stains -- possibly from the prior fortune teller! And new toys to'lose' under the refrigerator. Please feel free to contact Mom if you have any questions...
